Are you wondering how to keep your toddler entertained when it’s wet outside and getting cold? Well luckily the capital has loads of fun events happening this month, from firework displays to theatre shows. Christmas preparations begin in earnest from mid November too, so you’ll find plenty of festive-themed fun. Read on to discover our top Activities in London with Toddlers this month.

1. Celebrate Bonfire Night

Watching fireworks with young children is such a magical event, as they are so in awe of the amazing displays in the sky. So make sure you don’t miss the chance to experience one of London’s fantastic fireworks shows this year. Many have not just fireworks but also rides, attractions and workshops for kids. Look out for events which start earlier, such as Coram’s Fields in Bloomsbury. This beautiful green space in the heart of London also has fab play areas and farm animals to meet. Check it out on our list of the Best Fireworks in London.

2. Watch the Christmas Lights Switch On

Looking for free activities in London with toddlers this month? Then watch the city come to life with beautiful Christmas light displays. You can go to Carnaby Street on 7th Nov, Covent Garden on 12th Nov or Regent Street on 14th Nov. Each one is sure to delight little kids, but our favourite has to be Carnaby Street, which has an ocean theme this year. They will love the 5 metre model whale which blows bubbles over visitors, as well as colourful coral, dolphins, turtles and sharks.

3. See a Show

The Unicorn Theatre and Little Angel Theatre are both fantastic children’s theatres offering fun, interactive shows throughout the year.  This month, The Unicorn has ‘Scrunch’ – an interactive sensory event for 6-18 month olds based on their first experience of Christmas. Expect lots of wrapping paper and boxes to be explored!  Meanwhile, The Little Angel Theatre is showing ‘Me’  – the charming story of a little penguin, based on the popular book by Emma Dodd. The show is aimed at ages 2-5, so there’s no need to worry if your little one starts to fidget or ask for snacks!

4. Learn Circus Skills

Enjoy a free Parent & Toddler taster session (45 mins) at London’ s leading independent circus school, Air Craft Circus.  On Thursday 21st November, parents are encouraged to join your little ones (Ages 2-4) as they bounce on the trampoline, walk along a tight-wire, hang from a trapeze and much more. A really unique activity, this is a fun way to tire out energetic toddlers, and also get some exercise yourself! Although the event is free, you will need to book your space online in advance.

Address: Thames-Side Studios, Unit 7A, Mellish House. Harrington Way, London. SE18 5NR.

5. Visit the V&A Museum of Childhood

The V&A Museum of Childhood is one of our favourite places to go, if you’re looking for activities in London with toddlers. They offer loads of great events throughout the year, many of which are free. This month they have a special Montessori Play Session (13th November), and a Movement Play Session (2nd Nov). Both sessions involve themes from the museum’s current exhibits, explored via dance, music and crafts. These special sessions cost just £3 per child – booking is essential. In addition, the museum has a whole range of free daily activities for kids, making it a great place to visit on a rainy Autumn day. Check out the website below to see what’s on.
