Without a doubt, Benidorm is among the most popular European beach destinations visited by British families. If you are looking for guaranteed sun, big playas and large family friendly resorts, this is the place to go to.

But what are the best things to do in Benidorm with your kids?

In this guide, I will tell you all about the major water parks, green areas, best beaches and other activities you could do with your family in Benidorm.

Benidorm is located in the region called Costa Blanca on the East side of Spain. The city sits between Alicante and Dénia is not too far by boat from Ibiza. In fact you can take a ferry from Benidorm that takes about 2 hours to reach the island of Ibiza.

Formerly known as a little fishing village in the sixties, Benidorm has grown with massive resort development and tall buildings alongside the different beaches. Today, the region of Benidorm has over 100 hotels and lots of apartments for families to enjoy all year round.

Typically, Benidorm is very popular with families during Easter holiday, Summer holiday and even October half term where temperature is still just above 20°C.

So if you are already in Benidorm or are fishing for great ideas on how to keep the children busy during your holiday, hang in there.

Here are my recommended things to do in Benidorm with kids. Vamos!

1. Aqualandia

Let’s get straight into one of the most visited water parks in the Costa Blanca region that is Aqualandia. This most sought after attraction welcomes families between June and end of September.

Set in a natural environment, Aqualandia is a great water park with plenty of rides suitable for young swimmers and more. Yes you would have to walk quite a bit between the rides but I promise your family will enjoy this park immensely.

The pools are very clean and you can be sure to find lifeguards on duty all the time. So expect a water park that is secured even during peak times.

In terms of places to eat, you will find lots of options including pizzas, sandwiches and more.

To take advantage fully of the park, expect to spend the whole day at Aqualandia especially in the summer where you may have to queue to some of the most popular rides.

2. Terra Natura

Located in the North of Benidorm, Terra Natura is a magnificent wild park area where you can spot lots of animals. In fact, visitors can expect to meet over 1,500 animals divided in different regions: Europe, Asia and America plus Pangea where you can access the park.

What astonishing is the huge space that these animals have which make you comfortable when you pay a visit to Terra Natura. So this park is much more than a traditional zoo. Expect more a big area where you can see most animals at a close distance.

For children, you can find different play areas where they can play with their peers.

Regarding catering options, you can either plan a picnic on the premises or head to the different cafes where you can eat hamburgers, salads or hot dogs.

3. Aqua Natura

Situated right next to Terra Natura you can find another great water park called Aqua Natura. This attraction would be ideal to visit during the summer for sure but you can also go there before or after the peak season too.

There is a specific pool reserved for children under 4 joined by their parents. So a perfect opportunity for young children to get used to the water and learn how to swim.

Another great activity is the Mermaid School where your children will learn how to swim like a mermaid or a triton with a monofin. They will even get a certificate diploma once they accomplished the training session!

For more grown up children, Aqua Natura offers lots of fun rides including tube slides, fast rapid slides and the popular Aqua Snake.

4. A Day at the Beach

If you come to Benidorm, one of the main reasons is to spend time at the beach within reasonable distance from your hotel or your apartment. Benidorm is known to have the most clean beaches in Spain. So if I have to pick 3 beaches that are great for families, it would be Poniente, Levante and Mal Pas Cove.

Poniente is the probably the most family friendly beach in Benidorm where families can find playgrounds and numerous cafes and restaurants nearby.

Levante is the most popular beach in Benidorm and also the longest with over 2km of fine sands. During the peak season, you might find the beach a bit noisy with music blasting from cafes. But it is worth to try at least for 1 day during your holiday in Benidorm.

And finally, Mal Pas Cove is more a secluded beach that sits between Levante Ponient with a beautiful view over the cove and the sea. The beach is fairly small so plan well in advance your visit to secure enough space for your towels.

5. Natural Park de la Serra Gelada

If you are looking for a sporty activity to do with the kids in Benidorm, you can go wrong by planning a day visiting the Serra Gelada natural park. Ideally, you would want to head over there in early morning and spot incredible views when the sun is not too high.

This flat 2km walk is perfect for a family with kids who don’t complain about using their feet for 1 hour or 2. You will be rewarded when you reach the lighthouse with an incredible viewpoint.

If you are fans of geocaching, you might see these hidden boxes in the area too. So make sure you hunt down for these puzzles to make the experience even more fun for your children.

6. Mundomar

Mundomar is arguably one of the favourite themes parks in Benidorm that families love visiting with their children. The animal park is close to Aqualandia and you can even buy combined ticket entry giving you access to both parks.

What you will find at Mundomar is lots of large spaces for animals including attractions like the dolphin show or sea lions.

There are different VIP experiences such as swimming with dolphins or photo shoots with parrots and so much more.

Recent reviews have shown that this venue is really looking after the animals and their dedicated habitat.

Overall, Mundomar is the perfect half day out you after you are bored spending time at the beach. Also the place has different food outlets such a snack bar or buffet self service restaurant.

8. Festilandia – Sould Park

Located in the heart of Benidorm town, Festilandia is a small amusement park where young children can enjoy small rides, arcades and games to redeem prizes.

It might look like the typical amusement park you can find in seaside towns in England. So get your wallet ready and enjoy seeing your children having fun in a carrousel or trying to beat you in a video game.

Usually, each ride would cost you around 2 or 3 EUR and you would need to purchase a card to load money and access different rides with it.

9. La Farola Crazy Golf

If you need one hour to kill before lunch or dinner, there is no better way to play a mini golf with your kids. This miniature gold is outdoor and is located not too far from the Mirador del la Ermita.

The surroundings of the mini golf are not that attractive so don’t expect much to see after a round of golf with your kids.

10. Karting Benidorm

Teenagers will love this attraction. Karting Benidorm is a fantastic venue where adults and children can practise their karting skills outdoor. Difference sessions are offered on the premises with different vehicles depending of children age.

The smallest kart is available for children aged 7+ with a minimum height of 1.3m / 4.2ft.

If you plan to come back during your holiday in Benidorm, there are also multipack sessions to buy and save money. Check their website to see all prices and options available.

After a thrilling session on the circuit, you can head to the bar restaurant where families can eat paellas or grilled meats. Perfect to fuel some carbs before heading to the beach afterwards.

11. Terra Mitica

Terra Mitica opens on the 1st June and closes on the 10th September 2023

Reopen in 2022 after two years of enforced closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Terra Mitica is a top theme park in Benidorm that kids will enjoy going many times over.

The gigantic fun park is built on 5 geographical zones: Iberia, Greece, Rome, Egypt and the Islands. However, you can only visit all zones from July until mid September.

Terra Mitica is full of fun attractions suitable for young children but also for teens who will love the speedy Flight of Fenix ride with a 54m drop in 3 seconds.

During the summer, Iberia zone is the water park you can access to with your swimsuits ready. You will probably find the Nile river the highlight of the area where families enjoy Jacuzzi, slides and lots of splashes around you.

Within the different parks, there are different shows organised during the day, so make sure to check the website to see what’s on. For instance you can meet legionnaires or be involved in a dancing contest.

The Costa Blanca is no stranger to dinosaurs fans. This is why they have created a fun and popular themed park around them. This attraction is located near Benidorm in the North in the natural reserve of Les Fonts d’Algar.

Children will get close and personal with animated dinosaurs surrounded by lots of cactuses and desert plants.

Families will venture around the park walking in different paths and take pictures with all different Jurassic animals. Don’t miss the 3D Cinema attraction which is included in the ticket price too.

15. Escape Game ‘The Paradox’

I couldn’t conclude this article without mentioning an escape game that is becoming more and more popular with children these days. Benidorm has of course different games to choose from but I have spotted The Paradox as one that need extra mention on this page.

Located nearby Levante beach, The Paradox escape game is perfect for families who need a great challenge to solve different puzzles and mysteries.

The game is called Armor of the Gods and doesn’t include any scary moments. So you can rest assured your children won’t be frightened once inside the room. However they would need assistance from their parents as some clues might be tricky for them.

Recent reviews have praised how friendly and welcoming the different game hosts have been with visotors. One more reason to try this escape game if you have 1 hour to spare during your busy schedule in Benidorm.
