Gran Canaria is the most multicultural island in the Canaries for food, offering everything from Asian to South American. In the popular tourist beach resorts you’ll find plenty of family friendly Italian (all kids love pizza right?!), seafood and traditional Spanish, Mediterranean and Canarian. Look out for the great value menú del día (menu of the day) in most restaurants which will cost around €10.

Local specialities you’re likely to see on the menu include potaje (stew), albondigas (meatballs), barbequed meats and Canarian excellent wines.

3. Time Restaurant, Maspalomas

At first, this authentic Italian restaurant serves amazing homemade pasta and pizza is sure to be a hit with parents and kids alike. In typical Italian style, the owners are exceptionally welcoming to children.

Moreover, the kids are really made a fuss of by the staff, and there’s a good children’s menu of smaller sized dishes that they’re sure to love. They also do pizza to takeaway, if you fancy eating back at your villa. Overall, a true favourite among our family friendly restaurants in Gran Canaria.

5. K1 Food & Lounge, Meloneras

Last but not least, this popular bar and restaurant draws tourists to its sea view terrace all day and night, where it offers fantastic paella which is often “show cooked” in front of diners, seafood platters plus burgers, pizza and great cocktails. Despite it’s fashionable appearance it is very welcoming to children during the daytime, when it has a more relaxed vibe.

A really popular place for sunset cocktails, there is more of a young, party atmosphere after dark when a DJ spins upbeat tunes – one to return to later if you have a babysitter booked!
