FAQs on why you should book your holiday in Edinburgh with your family

Is Edinburgh good for family holiday?

If you plan a family holiday in Scotland, make sure to plan enough days to visit Edinburgh with the kids. Usually, visitors spend between 2 to 4 nights depending how deep you want to explore the city. My own experience with young children was to stay 3 nights in Stockbridge district before heading to the North of Scotland and continue our journey towards Inverness.

Where to Stay in Edinburgh with Kids?

There are different options in terms of areas on where to stay in Edinburgh with kids. The obvious choice would be to pick hotels and apartments available in West End, Haymarket or Edinburgh New Town so you know you can walk easily with your little ones to lots of places to visit in Edinburgh.

In the summer, you can opt in for a family hotel stay in Portobello that is situated on the seafront East of Edinburgh. There are also quite a lot of holiday rentals available in this area.

Finally, if you are looking to stay nearby Edinburgh Zoo, have a look at the Holiday Inn Edinburgh Zoo where you can guarantee to be the first visitors in the morning!

I believe the first time you would visit Edinburgh with the family means trying to see the essential things to do in the Scottish capital. So my recommendation would be to stay central and close to the action. For example, you could stay at Novotel Edinburgh Centre that is ideally located close to Edinburgh Castle and National Museum of Scotland.

If you are driving to Edinburgh, I can’t recommend enough to book a room at the Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club located only a 20 minutes drive West of Edinburgh. The property boasts with excellent facilities such as indoor swimming pool, massive gardens and kids meals. The Dalmahoy Hotel is the perfect getaway place to stay in Edinburgh remote from the busy streets of the city centre.
