The Dutch city with 60 miles of canals can be a fantastic place for children. For instance, they will love exploring its beautiful green parks, historic zoo and delicious waffle shops.

As with all cities, there are some areas which are much better suited to families. With plenty of child friendly cafes and lots of green space on your doorstep.

However, we know that researching the perfect apartment or most spacious hotel room can be time consuming. Therefore, we have carefully selected accommodation in the most family friendly areas, with every amenity you need.

Where to stay in Amsterdam with Kids?

We absolutely love the Erik Vökel Boutique Apartments. The view of the river will keep kids entertained, spotting the boats coming and going each morning. It’s surrounded by numerous museums including the NEMO Science Museum. All apartments feature a spacious living area and up to 3 bedrooms. So there’s plenty of space for a large family. In addition, you can even bring your dog!

If you’d prefer the luxury of a hotel, the NH City Centre is right in the heart of the city. Just five minutes walk from Dam Square. This is the perfect location for exploring with young children who may tire easily and need to head back for a nap. The Quadruple Family Rooms sleep up to four guests, and there are kids meals served at the restaurant plus bicycles to rent.

Other popular areas for families to stay include Jordaan. A quirky neighbourhood full of galleries and boutiques, or Plantage and located near the famous Artis Zoo.
