Located on the ground floor of the former Tetley Headquarters, which now a buzzing social enterprise and community space, this cafe offers a Yorkshire inspired menu using ingredients from local, independent suppliers.
Winner of Yorkshire Life’s Family Dining Award 2018, the children’s menu features dishes like Brioche Eggy Bread , Ham and Cheese croquettes and Babyccinos, while adults can feast on Avo Toast or a Quinoa and Halloumi Burger. They also do a fantastic Sunday roast.

2. George’s Great British Kitchen
You’ll find beach huts instead of booths at this popular seaside themed eatery, which also has branches in Newcastle, Nottingham and Liverpool. The candyfloss topped drinks will delight the kids, and the classic British food is good value too. Bringing a taste of the seaside to the city centre, you can choose from traditional fish and chips, burgers or bangers and mash. The children’s meal deal includes ‘build you own ice cream’ or freshly made doughnuts – delicious!

3. Outlaws Yacht Club
Part record store, part café and part live music venue, Outlaws Yacht Club is the kind of cool social hangout you might have frequented pre-parenthood. Don’t be put off by its hipster vibes though, they are very welcoming to children during the daytime, offering plenty of space for buggies and roving toddlers! There is no children’s menu but the gourmet sandwiches and sharing boards are perfect for creating a pick and mix selection your little ones are sure to like. Adults should try Outlaw’s own blend espresso or Pale Ale, then sit back and relax to reggae tunes spun by the resident DJ.

Serving authentic Roman pizza by the slice, Simpatico is the perfect pitstop for hungry families. There are so many options of toppings to choose from; those using top quality, classic Italian ingredients as well as more unusual offerings like Yorkshire pudding pizza and lamb and mint sauce! Grab a few slices to takeaway and enjoy in a nearby park or eat in the relaxed restaurant… but trust us, it will be hard to resist second helpings!

5. The Arch Cafe
Housed in the Grade II listed Bradbury Building, this café serves homemade cakes and sandwiches, fresh daily specials and homemade soups. It is run by Age UK, with all profits going back to the charity, so you can satisfy your social conscience as well as your appetite! The tranquil outdoor seating area and garden are perfect for letting the kids run around on a sunny day. A great cafe which deserved to be on our child friendly restaurants & cafes in Leeds for sure.

6. POCO Sicilian Street Food
Serving up the most delicious, authentic Sicilian food in the heart of the city, POCO simply had to make it onto our list of child friendly restaurants Leeds. It’s not quite a restaurant, it’s a takeaway-style deli but the food is so high quality, you’ll be transported to the streets of Palermo in one mouthful! Grab a selection of oozing arancini, fresh, hot pizza slices and excellent coffee, before heading over to Burley Park opposite where the kids can enjoy the playground.
7. Humpit Hummus
Starting life as a pop up food van around Leeds, this houmous-loving cafe has gone from strength to strength, and now serves the nation’s favourite dip in 13 locations across the North of England. A great place to eat in or takeaway, the array of delicious menu options is sure to keep everyone happy. Little ones might enjoy a simple hummus bowl with pitta, whilst parents could go for a warm wrap loaded with falafel, fresh colourful salads and a myriad of condiments. Side dishes include sweet potato fries, roasted cauliflower or Mediterranean rice and lentils. A really great value place for a filling lunch with the family.

8. Myrtle Tavern
Just 10 minutes drive from the city centre, Myrtle Tavern is a friendly country pub that’s loved by local families. The welcoming staff, large beer garden and outdoor play equipment create a great environment for both children and parents. They often have fun events for kids too, such as a Santa’s Grotto at Christmas and a bouncy castle in the summer.

9. Ego at The Wellington
Not far from Roundhay Park, this newly refurbished neighbourhood pub has a loyal local following, where families love it for relaxed Sunday roasts and the Mediterranean-inspired menu. The highlight for kids is sure to be the make your own pizzas – staff will bring a chef’s hat, pizza base and various toppings to your table so they can decorate it as they wish. Then it will be whisked away to be cooked before bringing it back for hungry mouths to devour it!

10. Cha Lounge
A city centre cafe with an ethical outlook, Cha Lounge is a welcoming , spacious and chilled out spot to enjoy a morning coffee stop or lunch. Every item on their menu is carefully from sustainable, fair trade communities, and 10% of their profits go to charity. There is no children’s menu, but the staff will make smaller portions if requested – we bet they’ll love the buttermilk pancakes with nutella and bananas! There are some toys and books to keep them entertained while you wait too.
