Planning a family holiday in Fuerteventura?
If you’ve already tasted a holiday in Tenerife, why not trying a family friendly holiday in Fuerteventura this year. In this guide, I will take you on the most family friendly places to stay in Fuerteventura.
The 2nd largest of the Canary Islands is very well known for its white sandy beaches and being the closest to Western Saharan Africa. The island is full of surprises especially if you like water sports and is usually quieter than its sisters Gran Canaria or Tenerife.
Where to Stay in Fuerteventura with Children?
The island of Fuerteventura is fairly small and has great family friendly hotels with kids clubs and close to the beach. Regions that have been praised by families in the past are Corralejo in the North of the island where you can explore a great natural park. Otherwise, there are lots of hotel resorts in the South in Jandia or Costa Calma.
If you wish to minimise the airport transfer to the hotel, maybe have a look at hotels in the Costa Caleta region. If your kids are good in cars or buses, then you can stay in Corralejo or Jandia.
FUN FACT: Did you know that the Corralejo region was used as the perfect volcanic landscapes in the Star Wars movie Solo
Is Fuerteventura a good place for families?
Fuerteventura is paradise on Earth for families. If you are looking for a peaceful holiday with large sandy beaches, Fuerteventura is one of the best Canaries islands. A lot of hotels in Fuerteventura have captured the needs of families by creating large family rooms and great kids clubs. I even found a hotel where your children can participate in a sleepover club with movie night. How cool is that?
When is the best time to visit Fuerteventura with Children?
Because of the Saharan winds the island of Fuerteventura can be visited all year round but you have to be aware of strong winds sometimes, which makes it a bit annoying where you are on the beach. Thank God you will have a swimming pool at your hotel! Usually families take a holiday in Fuerteventura between May and October.
The half term October holiday is quite popular in the recent years, especially with direct flights available. There is hardly any rain in Fuerteventura, hence why don’t expect to find lots of green but rather magical landscapes with long beaches and volcanic mountains.
So I believe it is time to reveal my recommended list of kids friendly hotels in Fuerteventura. Enjoy your holiday in the Canaries! Vamos!
