This amazing festival celebrating both Diwali and Bonfire Night has a real community spirit to it. Families can enjoy a carnival-style parade, with hundreds of lanterns and decorations made by locals. 2. Coram’s Fields, Bloomsbury – 1st Nov

Enjoy a beautiful free fireworks display right in the heart of the city, at Coram’s Fields. This seven acre oasis in Bloomsbury hosts an annual family-focused event with a small funfair and food stalls. Doors open at 3:30pm, ending with fireworks at 6pm, so it’s ideal timing for little ones who need to be in bed early.

3. Blackheath Fireworks – 2nd Nov

South Londoner’s unite at this free event, which attracts thousands of families to its fairground rides and live entertainment. The fun starts from 12pm, so you can make a whole day of it. You can see for miles from this huge green space next to Greenwich Park. So why not play a game of eye spy and see if the kids can spot Canary Wharf and the Gherkin? Blackheath Village is a charming place to have a wander round, or grab a bite to eat beforehand too. The fireworks display starts at 8pm.

4. Alexandra Palace Fireworks Festival – 1st & 2nd Nov

This two day event is one of the biggest and best in the capital, and always a hit with local families. Alongside the huge fireworks display on Friday and Saturday evening, visitors can enjoy a huge array of attractions. There will be live music, a funfair, a beer festival and a pop up cinema showing Harry Potter and Toy Story. As some of the Best Fireworks London, this one sells out fast so get booking soon!

5. Guy Fawkes Festival, Waltham Cross – 2nd & 3rd Nov

Where better to celebrate bonfire night than at The Royal Gunpowder Mills – set in the 175 acre grounds of Waltham Abbey. During the day, kids will love learning about the history of explosives at this fascinating site.  Daytime activities (from 2pm) include a theatre production, archery display, interactive science shows and crafts. The kids are bound to love making their own slime or lanterns to take home. You can also enjoy a tractor ride around the 300 year old former Gunpowder factory. And the day ends with spectacular fireworks at 7pm. This one also fills up quickly, so it’s best to pre-book tickets to guarantee access.
