Family Hotels Rooms with Bunk Beds
When it comes to choosing which hotel we should book for our next family holiday, we usually look at whether they offer large family rooms. Or what facilities are great for kids such as a kids friendly pool or a kids club. But recently, we added a new criteria: do they have bunk beds. That’s right, is there a way to pin point which family friendly hotels have bunk beds in their rooms.
A few years ago, my wife and I took our 2 children away on a short weekend break in August before they got back to school with excitement. We didn’t go very far, only an 1-hour drive from London in a very special place called Birch (unfortunately the hotel has closed now) located in Hertfordshire not too far from Cheshunt.

Whilst the joy of getting away from London for 3 days was much appreciated, we didn’t know what to expect on arrival. The place is a mixed bag of community + co working space + relaxation + good food. But I am not here to give you a full review of our stay at the Birch.
The big surprise to our children was to find a family room with bunk beds. It is true we usually stay in hotels where they have twin beds or even a double bed. So getting bunk beds was a WOW factor for them more than anything else at the hotel.
They were already planning who is going on the top bed on the 1st and the 2nd night and so on. So I thought here is an idea. What shouldn’t I look for the best family friendly hotels that have family rooms with bunk beds?
So here we are. I have spent a lot of hours scrolling the web to find suitable hotels and holiday homes in destinations all around Europe such as Berlin or Antalya. So surely, I should be able to find the best hotel rooms with bunk beds that deserve to be promoted here. Easier said than done.
Of course, a lot of hostels in cities already have bunk beds, as these are the main bedding furniture of dormitories. I also remember vaguely that ski holidays in a chalet apartment usually mean sleeping in bunk beds just because it is more convenient and take less space.
However, I was more on the hunt to find elegant, colourful and child friendly bunk beds that will trigger the ‘wish’ or ‘book’ button for your next family holiday. Whether you are going on a city break or a sunny long holiday.
Also, I was wondering if parents would pay a premium to choose these specific rooms over the typical double bedroom with a sofa bed. Usually these sofa beds are not really comfortable according to my son.
So without any particular order, here are my favourite family friendly hotels that offer family rooms with bunk beds.
