From the iconic rounded roof houses called Trulli to beautiful emerald sea waters, the region of Puglia is definitely a top destination to consider for your holiday with your family. In this article, I have shortlisted the best family friendly hotels in the region of Puglia including masseria with swimming pools.
Puglia, located in southern Italy, is a fantastic destination for families, offering a mix of Southern Italian culture, nature, and fun. Known for its stunning coastline, Puglia boasts sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters ideal for children.
The region’s charming towns, like Alberobello with its unique trulli houses or the port town of Monopoli, provide a cultural experience for everyone. Families can enjoy exploring ancient castles, vibrant markets, and indulging in delicious local cuisine.
With mild weather all year-round even though very hot in the summer (it can reach up to 40°C), welcoming locals, and a variety of outdoor activities such as biking and sailing, Puglia offers a perfect mix of relaxation and adventure for a memorable family vacation.
How to reach Puglia?
The region of Puglia can be reached by plane where you can land in two International airports which are Bari Airport and Brindisi Airport. You could also drive down the Italian South coast but beware of the hot weather in the summer. Trains are also available in Puglia where main cities have their own station but also touristic iconic villages like Alberobello or Ostuni.
Once you have arrived in Puglia, it is fair to say that renting a car is advisable if you would like to visit different parts of the region. In two weeks, we have travelled about 700km by car from Bari to Taranto by stopping in different hotels during our 2 weeks trip.
How many days are enough in Puglia?
Depending of how much you would like to explore the region, I would recommend to spend between 1 and 2 weeks to fully immerse yourself in this incredible region of Puglia. In the summer, it is advisable to mix cultural visits and day at the pool or beach so your kids are not too tired.
