2. Beach day at Cefalù
This is undoubtedly one of the best beaches in Sicily, and a firm favourite with families. The wide sandy beach has plenty of loungers, and the sea is warm and shallow. There are lots of restaurants and shops on Catania’s pretty cobbled streets, and a stunning Cathedral too. So you have plenty of places to escape the midday heat. However, if you’re feeling energetic you can climb the huge rock at the end of the beach, for some magnificent views.
3. Boat trip to the Aeolian Islands
Discover three of the most beautiful Aeolian Islands on this mini cruise, leaving from Tropea. Firstly, visitors can bathe in the sulphur baths on Vulkano, known for their medicinal properties. Next, explore the ancient castle and pretty harbour of Lipari. After that, you can and watch plumes of smoke wafting from the volcanic island of Stromboli, which is surrounded by crystal-clear water. And don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for dolphins too!
4. Selinunte Archaeological Park
One of Sicily’s top archaeological sites, this sprawling ruined city has magnificent temples surrounded by wide open spaces for kids to explore. And the best bit for families? There are two beaches just below, where they can let off steam once you’ve had your fill of culture.

5. Monti Rossi Adventure Park
This treetop adventure park near Catania receives great reviews from families with young children. For instance, the kids will love to discover their inner Tarzan as they swing their way through the trees. In addition, there are less challenging routes for smaller children, so everyone is welcome.
