With sunshine and pleasant temperatures most of the year, the best things to do in Nice with kids is to enjoy a walk or a bike ride on the Promenade des Anglais, or go to the beach. But there are plenty to do to keep the children amused.
If you have time it’s also a good idea to take the train or rent a car to explore the French Riviera. The hotspots are Eze, Monaco, Biot and Antibes.
BabyBreaks has done the hard work for you and put together a selection of the best child-friendly Outdoor activities in Nice.
1. Canyon Forest
If you’re planning to stay a few days in the French Riviera, it is worth taking the time to go to this great adventure park nestled in an exceptional site between the river and the cliffs, only a few miles from Nice city centre.
There are over 160 different activity stations from treetop trails, climbing, rope bridges, Tarzan jumps to a giant 331-metre zip-line and more. Booking is required, especially on the weekend and high season.
Come on, get the whole family to climb up to the treetop!
Opening Hours: check website
2. Parc de la Colline du Chateau (Castle Hill)
Free activity for the whole family to enjoy some sightseeing.
Just a few minutes’ walk from the city center, head to the hills to discover a lush green park with amazing views of the bay of Nice, the old town and the port.
Despite its name “Castle Hill”, there is no longer a castle, only ruins remain and are open to the public.
Let your children know that there will be some walking but they will quickly realise it was worth it when they see the impressive waterfall coming down from a short cliff. Once you reached the top there is also a safe playground with climbing frames to suit all ages, and two cafes with outdoor seating.
BabyBreaks Tip: come at the end of the day to admire the spectacular lighting of the sunset.
3. Parc Phoenix
Perfectly located across the sea and close to the airport, this 7-hectare park is worth a visit both children and adults will equally enjoy.
Part botanical gardens with over 2500 plant species, part animal park home to more than 2000 animals from birds to reptiles and even farm animals.
They also have several educational exhibits and play areas with slides, rocking rides and more.
Opening Hours: 9:30am – 6pm (Winter) – 9:30am – 6:30 pm (Summer)
4. Promenade des Anglais
Be like locals and go to the Promenade des Anglais for a long walk, bike ride or roller skating. It takes its name from the English people who paid for it to be built.
The iconic seafront promenade runs for 7 kms between the airport and the port of Nice. To make it a fun family outing you can rent roller skates, bikes, children scooters etc at the “Roller Station“.
Stop for a bite to eat at one of the private beaches or take a picnic to the pebble public beach and enjoy a swim during the warmer days. Simple but kids love it!
