The beautiful island of Sardinia is blessed with stunning white beaches that are considered some of the best in Europe. Consequently, this makes it a favourite destination for families seeking sun, sea and relaxation.

Relaxing beach days can be coupled with more active excursions to wild natural parks, hiking, canoeing or snorkelling your way around unspoiled landscapes.  The Olbia region is the most popular, offering a string of upmarket resorts like celebrities’ favourite Porto Cervo, which offers easy access to the Costa Smerelda (Emerald Coast).

Children are well catered for in the large tourist resorts, where you’ll find playgrounds, well equipped beaches and plenty of accommodation options.

BabyBreaks has done the hard work for you and put together a selection of the best activities in Sardinia with kids.

3. Horse Riding

Horse treks are very popular in Sardinia – firstly they are a fantastic way to see the island. So, you can sit back and relax while you admire breathtaking scenery, from hidden beaches to rural pastures. Secondly, the kids will love interacting with the horses, even if they are first timers. For example there are numerous tour operators which are geared towards beginners and young riders. Therefore we suggest you ask your hotel to recommend a local reputable company.

4. Visit a Water Park

A water park is always high on the kids list of holiday activities, and there are lots to choose from in Sardinia. Firstly, our favourites in the north of the island are AquaDream, just 10 minutes from Porto Cervo or Water Paradise near Eden Beach. However, if you’re staying in the south of the island try BluFan or Diverland.
