Now that the Festive season is over, comes this time of the year where we parents tend to stay at home with the kids and feel running out of ideas on what to do over the weekends. London might be too cold in January to get out and let our kids enjoy the local playgrounds. Or we might be bored by spending time in the same museums over and over again. So maybe it is time to book one of those great kids shows in London that family can enjoy all together after a quick dinner in the city.
1. Matilda The Musical, Cambridge Theatre
This classic 1988 Roald Dahl story has been turned into a great musical that has been played since December 2010. Currently shown at the great Cambridge Theatre in London’ West End, the show is a great entertainment for families with kids over 5 years old. 2. Totem – Cirque du Soleil, Royal Albert Hall
We have covered Circuses around Europe before on BabyBreaks but if you have to choose one unique show in town, Cirque du Soleil never fails to entertain the whole family. Every winter, Cirque du Soleil takes residency at the Royal Albert Hall for more than a month starting on the 12th January 2019 with their show Totem. Book your tickets here.
3. In the Winter Wood, Polka Theatre
For a younger audience between 3 and 6 years old, we can’t recommend enough the interactive play In the Winter Wood that have been shown at the Polka Theatre in Wimbledon. 4. Room on the Broom Live, Lyric Theatre
The famous Julia Donaldson & Axel Scheffler story has been adapted to a great musical show that lasts 1 hour for a young audience 3 years old and older. The Lyric Theatre in the West End hosts this lovely show for the last performances ending on the Sunday 13th January. So be quick to book your tickets here.
5. The Wider Earth, National History Museum
Shown in a new theatre inside the National History Museum, the acclaimed play The Wider Earth will take you and your kids on a journey with the young Darwin and his many important discoveries. Expect some impressive puppetry and story telling over a 2-hour show for an audience aged 6 years old and older. Book your tickets here.
