1. Lauriston Castle – Halloween Terror Trail

Sunday 29th Oct 2023 at 10am – If you fancy a morning activity at a castle, celebrate Halloween with your kids at the beautiful Lauriston Castle.

Aimed at children accompanied with their parents,  “The Halloween Terror Trail” is a fun ghostly adventure walk exploring the grounds and rooms of the castle.

So along the way they will meet bizarre characters like magic wizards and be invited to join some arts & craft activities.

2. Show your Best Dancing Moves at Big Fish Little Halloween Party

29th October 1 to 3pm – This activity promises to be a fun family event during Halloween if you are in Edinburgh for the weekend.

This year, Big Fish Little Fish is setting its rave party at La Belle Angele, a long lasting nightclub in the Old Town of Edinburgh.

Parents and their children will enjoy an afternoon full of uplifting dancing tunes with strobes, confetti cannons and plenty more. There is even a play area with tunnels and also a baby area with soft mats.

3. Halloween at Wonder World Soft Play

28th and 29th October 2023 – If you are local to Edinburgh, you probably know this massive soft play venue, called Wonder World located on the North of Edinburgh.

For 2023, the venue has prepared some great activities for your little monsters during the Halloween weekend: enter Wicked Wonders.

Your children will enjoy two full days of arts and crafts, music, games and so much more. It goes without saying that if your children come with their scariest outfit, it will be much appreciated!

4. Almond Valley Heritage Centre – Fright Night / Spooky Saturday

Local parents love Almond Valley (a working watermill and farm) for its child friendly activities including animal enclosures,  tractor rides and play areas. Surrounded by beautiful rural scenery, it feels a world away from the busy city centre. After dark on 27th and 28th October 2023, strange creatures of the night emerge from the shadows and stalk the moonlit fields of the farm. A spooky experience that older kids will love.

Alternatively, visit during the day from 7th October to 29th October 2023 for fun and games for little monsters 👻, in an all day Halloween party with music, crafts and games and a ghostly mysterious quiz trail.

Last but not least, the venue has PYO pumpkin between 7th October and 29th October 2023. So pick a day, borrow a wheelbarrow and choose your perfect pumpkins to decorate the house or your door step.

5. Halloween at Dalkeith Country Park

There is a lot going on at Dalkeith Country Park during the Halloween festive time. So here is the busy agenda of all activities you could with the family.

13th October to 29th October 2023 – whether you fancy picking your own pumpkin or intrigued to hear some ghostly tales, Halloween Happenings offers a whole range of activities not to be missed for the whole family

14th October to 28th October 2023 – children who love manual activities have to book their session at the Kids’ Halloween Craft Workshops. There will be lots of different things you could take home like a ceramic pumpkin you had decorated with your own creatives or paper decorations you could hang in your bedroom. Make sure to pre-book this activity as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

14th October to 17th October 2023 – Dalkeith Country Park is bringing this year a great list of family friendly movies projected in an outdoor cinema. So make sure to bring your blanket, outdoor lounge chair and whatever you fancy to enjoy this family moment. This coming October, you will be able to watch or re watch The Nightmare Before Christmas or Hocus Pocus or Coco.

6. Halloween at Edinburgh Zoo

27th, 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st October 2023 5 t0 7pm – have you ever visited a zoo by night when everything is dark and mysterious? Well, Edinburgh Zoo is giving you an unique opportunity to visit their premises in the evening. There is even a marshmallow pit stop during your tour of the zoo. Sounds like a great activity to do in Edinburgh for Halloween with the family.

28th, 29th October 2023 9 to 11am – if you’d prefer to visit the Edinburgh Zoo in the morning, why not booking your Zoo Boo! Breakfast. You will be guided by different rangers and spot your favourite animal with maybe some strange encounters. Also a breakfast will be served at the Gannet including in your entry. Make sure to book your ticket in advance though.

28th, 29th October 2023 10am to 3pm – during the Halloween weekend, Edinburgh Zoo is offering a great kids friendly activity at their Lemur Lodge where you can carve your pumpkin. An additional £3.5 will be asked if you would like to participate in this fun spooky moment

7. Lil’ Monstars Breakfast at Hard Rock Cafe

The kids are sure to love this Halloween party at family favourite restaurant, The Hard Rock Cafe.  There will be a fancy dress disco, face painting, slime making and lots more. This year the popular Halloween breakfast is held on Sunday 29th October 2023 at 10.30am.
