As part of our weekly series Family Travel Tales, we pick the brains of some of the most inspirational travelling families, so they can share their top travel tips, bucket list of destinations and favourite travel memories.
This week, we are introducing you a family of three based in Germany. Abhilasha and her husband Sidharth have a toddler boy Agastya with lots of travel memories to share.

1. What is the first trip you remember taking as a family?
Our first trip was a road trip to Hamburg, Germany. Agastya was only 3 months old. It felt like we had to bring our whole house to the trip. Littlest traveller with the biggest luggage ever 😅
2. Which are some of your most favourite destinations, activities, and hotels?
Our latest trip to Gran Canaria was our absolute favourite. We prefer Airbnb over hotels, as it gives us more flexibility with the location and definitely enough space for our son to stay active 😅. For activities we always prefer beaches or outdoor parks. Win win for the whole family.
3. Any tips you would give to other family travellers?
Travelling with a baby/ toddler/kid is absolutely amazing. Don’t have second thoughts. Pack your bags with enough snacks and don’t bother about anyone. That’s it…you are ready to go.👌🏻
4. Have you been anywhere which turned out to be totally different to how you imagined? If so, how?
Dresden was a complete surprise for us. We went on a road trip to Prague and Dresden was our one day halt. Little did we know how amazing Dresden is. We were not only stunned by the gorgeous architecture but also how everything was easily accessible on foot. What more you need while travelling with kids.👌🏻

5. Do you have any funny travel stories?
We have a good one. We went to a fancy restaurant in tropical island, Berlin. We were enjoying our fancy 4 course dinner, when our son decided to have a huge diaper blow out 🤦🏻♀️ It was everywhere, believe me..his stroller had a serious colour change 😅. We excused ourselves to the restroom and as new parents it took us forever to clean the mess and return. Horrifying that day, but really funny now.😄
6. If you could go anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would it be and why?
We would love to go to New Zealand, as it has the most amazing scenery.
7. Where is the best family meal you had in a restaurant?
We had a lovely, relaxing lunch with a gorgeous view at a small restaurant in Puerto de las Nieves, Gran Canaria.
8. If you had a bucket list of 5 destinations to discover with your children, what would be on the list?
Our top 5 destinations would be:
#1 Japan
#2 New Zealand
#3 Iceland
#4 Cappadocia in Turkey
#5 Disney World 🐭
