This really vibrant city has a party vibe all year round, but especially this month which is full of festivities and parades. Corpus Christi festival is from June 20th to June 23rd. The highlight is the outdoor mass on Sunday in front of the Cathedral and the huge parade afterwards.
23rd June is also Saint Joan’s night – a vivacious evening of bonfires, fireworks and sparklers to celebrate the summer solstice.
The weekend of 29th June is the festival of Saint Peter – the old city neighbourhoods of Sant Pere, Santa Caterina and La Ribera celebrate this Catalan tradition. You will see a parade of dragons, giants and mythical figures.
The birthplace of the Renaissance is one the most beautiful cities in the world that makes it easy to explore with young children. Booking a weekend break for your family before the summer holidays means you will hopeful avoid some of the crowds, and the searing Italian heat.
