An American themed chain offering a taste of the Deep South, Hickory’s Smokehouses are famously great with kids. The Castle Bromwich branch is one of the best places to eat in Birmingham with kids. Pitching itself as a Bicycle Cafe (there’s a bike workshop upstairs), this hipster hangout is actually great for kids. The staff are really laid back and welcoming, and they provide colouring and a few toys for little ones, as well as a children’s menu. Gorilla Coffee Cafe is open from 08:30 am, so it’s great for early risers – ie parents! They serve excellent coffee, light-bites, cakes, pastries and quality bottled beers.
